“Make A Joyful Noise…”
With this t-shirt
The idea for these shirts came during a New York Annual Conference (NYAC) informal “brainstorm” over actions reconciling activists could take during the annual conference meeting in 2006. But the shirt has caught on nationally as it has struck a chord with United Methodists everywhere who are concerned about the church’s discrimination and exclusion.
“Closed doors, broken hearts, we mind” is a dead-on commentary on the United Methodist Church’s woefully unfulfilled official tagline: “open hearts, open minds, open doors.” Buy yours today to show you care about Jesus’s message of radically inclusive love. It’s a great way to start a conversation, too!
T-shirts are available for sale here (see below) and at Methodists in New Directions (MIND) events. Proceeds from the t-shirts go in part to MIND, NYAC’s reconciling activist group, in part to Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN), the national umbrella of reconciling churches in the UMC, and in part to Asbury-Crestwood’s own reconciling work.
Questions about the t-shirt can be directed to Rob Canora
