Bicycle Sunday a Success!

By imironchuk • Sep 19th, 2006 • Category: No Category

In the months of May through October a seven-mile stretch of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to automobile traffic each sunday between 10 AM and 2 PM for Bicycle Sunday.

Bicycle Sundays are a great chance for neighbors, families, and friends to gather for a bike ride along the beautiful Bronx River. The closing of the parkway starts at Exit 4 adjacent to Asbury Crestwood UMC, so we figured that it would be a great opportunity to minister to the community what Asbury Crestwood is all about. We set up a table this past sunday, September 17th and handed out goodies and water, as well as informational flyers about the church and conservation of the Bronx River parks.

A great time was had by all, and the free water was a welcomed sight for weary riders just finishing a long ride.

  1. Bicycle Sunday was a lot of fun, and we had a great turnout. I think we should do this every year, possibly on more than one Sunday. Thanks to everyone that helped out.
